1928: Florence & Lucille
Written & Directed by Rachel Blackman
After three long years as a couple, Florence and Lucille prepare to host a Halloween party, each hoping for a chance to distract themselves from the glaringly obvious problems in their relationship. Both are unwilling to let go of the relationship, scared of revealing what they each truly value in one another. The two try to save face in front of their guests while arguing throughout the evening, but their frustrations with each other and the state of their partnership boil over as one of their friends accidentally reveals to Lucille that Florence is planning on pursuing a new opportunity far away from the life they ve built together.
Florence: An up-and-coming jazz singer who commands the attention of any room she walks into, knowingly or otherwise. Flo always knows exactly what she wants but can struggle to come to terms with her desires, having difficulty admitting them to herself and communicating what she needs to those in her life.
Florence
Lucille: An aspiring artist who loves being in a relationship, as she thrives on intimacy and deep interpersonal connections, although often conflicted by her subconscious need to have the perfect image. Lucy struggles to recognize when she is not being valued due to her inclination to give and receive love, in any capacity.
Charles: A sweetheart, unapologetically loving and warm, valuing connection and quality time. His compassion and trust is typically what costs him any real chance at a solid romantic relationship, diving head first from one love into the next without thinking of the consequences.
Charles
Etta: Mischievous, catty, and charming, Eta tries to tailor the world around her to her own standards, butting heads with anyone who does not share her strongly-held beliefs. While she holds a lot of love in her heart, it is tinged with an unhealthy competitiveness that often lands her in hot water.
Bernard: Brings the fun to any room he enters, quietly obtaining the role as center of attention. A drink found in his hand more often than not, his loose-lipped mouth gets him into trouble as he talks the night away, his good intentions overshadowed by his gossiping.
Josephine: A gentle and kind soul with a good head on her shoulders, attempting to live by the golden rule. However, all bets are off when Jo's heart is involved, as she craves the intimacy and love she gives others for herself, unable to recognize when her actions strain the relationships she deeply values.
Clarence: Suave and comfortable with himself, oozing with confidence and care for his loved ones. He is often concerned with how others around him treat people, finding it difficult to set aside his self-righteousness when he believes anyone is being treated poorly, unable to understand their convictions.
