Virginia by Taylor Hurd

Music video directed by Sienna Leone (me!)

Taylor and I met through chance and fate. Both seniors in college, both looking to make something wildly cool. Virginia is an anthem of reclaimed independence, and Taylor gives it voice.

We wanted to keep the antagonist virtually faceless. At our first meeting, Taylor told me she may have written this song about her own trauma, but it’s a narrative that many people are familiar with. What matters is the victory of stepping through it.

Hello world! My name is Taylor and I'm a singer-songwriter from the beautiful city of Corning, New York.

I’ve been making music and performing consistently since sixth grade, but music has really been a part of my whole life. I was first exposed to music through going to my dad’s theater rehearsals as a kid, but I really found my passion for music when I began writing. I began playing shows and getting the chance to perform my content in front of others, and found a love for that as well. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into Berklee College of Music, and have been furthering my musical career and developing my skills there for the past year. On this long and crazy journey that I have been on toward my first studio project, I am so excited to finally be sharing my music with all of you.

When searching for an actor to play the Wizard, we were open to virtually anyone and anything. Tall, short, male, female, androgynous, it didn’t matter. What mattered most was their whimsy. As soon as Gavin Cox applied for the role, I knew he’d be perfect. The guy came with his own wizard costumes. Two of them. The robe he wears in the video was just something he had lying around.
